How does virtual production work?

Chapters in this interactive model

  1. A room made of screens: A curved LED wall shows a 3D place around a small real set.
  2. The wall redraws itself for one camera: Only the patch the lens sees gets the true perspective.
  3. The screen is also the light: Change the world on the wall and the actor is lit by it, at once.
  4. Keep the wall soft, and don’t move too fast: A wall is made of dots, runs a little late and can’t be the sun.
  5. “Can we move that mountain?”: A team at a desk runs the engine and changes the world between takes.
  6. Car chases that never leave the stage: Films, series, ads and driving shots, from Hollywood to Hyderabad.
